Changes…

Quick Updates:

  1. We are in the process of completing our website redesign to match our logo colors.  If you have been to our site for the past 5 years and you visit now, you’ll find is completely different! No, is not another Company (some of you have called me confused – sorry).  We did changed our name a few months ago from Florida Wedding Services to Destination Weddings of Orlando and now our website will have that tropical feel we always wanted.
  2. Prices did go up for some packages, but these changes do not affect confirmed reservations.  If you have a confirmed reservation with us (a reservation with a paid deposit), use your confirmation email and agreement as a reference of the services you reserved, prices and policies – do NOT use our website or you’ll get confused!
  3. Our small wedding  packages changed for NEW customers. We got rid of the prerecorded wedding music and replace it with LIVE steel drum player. If you have a paid reservation with us which includes recorded music and wish to replace it with the steel drum player, contact Morey directly for a special price.

NEW – High Definition Wedding DVD

More exciting news!

Now, when you reserve our optional ceremony video coverage ($250), your event will be recorded in high definition!

Why our inexpensive service is better than “uncle Joe’s” video taping:

1.  Professional equipment – you can’t beat the clarity and vibrant colors of a professional equipment. How many times have you seen those “home made” videos with their “shaky” scenes, dark colors (under exposed) and awful sound?
2. A wireless microphone is placed on the Officiant or groom – your consumer video cameras will NOT pickup the voices during the ceremony – what’s the poing of having a video without quality sound?
3.  Our ceremony videos are short and entertaining so that you and everyone would want to see it over and over again!

Contact Morey directly for details on how to book your ceremony video.

It’s finally here!

We finally received our NEW photography equipment. This new equipment just came out for sale only a few months ago and is already on National back order! A LOT of persistence and patience paid off and now our new couples will enjoy the benefits! Hector was sooooooo excited, that I took a few pics of him opening and showing off his new expensive “toy” – priceless! :-)

Bad Experiences with Resorts

Small Beach front hotel properties are normally friendly family owned resorts and they LOVE weddings. However, the large ones are getting extremely aggressive with wedding coordinators. In the past few years, I only had one very bad experience that I’ve learned to forget about it. But this weekend a recent similar experience brought all those horrible memories back.

My dear couples, if you want an outside vendor like us to service your wedding, please, do NOT coordinate your wedding with a large resort or contact us first to find our which ones are the ones willing to work with the customer in mind. I can tell you right now to avoid the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach and the Sand Pearl Resort in Clearwater Beach. The both have rude, incompetent wedding coordinators that will make our job extremely difficult or almost impossible.

Just recently, I was insulted by one of the Catering Coordinators at the Sand Pearl Resort because of a childish misunderstanding between her staff and I. This unprofessional and rude young girl came rushing downstairs with “half-truths” and basically insulted me in front of everyone on the beach, just like a 15 year old would at a “school fight”. You can only imagine how hard it was for me to compose myself so that my wonderful couple will NOT notice what was happening and they could have a happy and wonderful day; especially since I was the one getting them married! She just simply took my joy and happiness away for a few minutes and all I could think of was the REAL reason why I was there and try to regain composure (and my sanity!). Can you imagine a Resort whom you are paying $1,500 ONLY for the privilege of using their facilities/beach access (not including your catering and accommodations bill) treating your Officiant like garbage?

I later found out that my couple had their incidents with the Hotel and Coordinator when they promised amenities that were not given, the coordinator never showed up for the rehearsal and when she did, she was incompetent and unwilling to assist my couple. Of course, I will never tell my happy bride what happened because I don’t want to take the magic away from her moment, but I would never go back to that Hotel again and if you are hoping for a stress-free experience, please avoid the Sand Pearl Resorts at all costs. Instead, contact me directly for vendor friendly hotels!

Happy New Year!

Morey

Morey

I just can’t believe another year has gone by. It feels like it was just yesterday when my husband and I had this desire of making simple dreams come true, except that we are older, our skin is a lot darker thanks to Florida’s bright sunlight year round and with a lot more grey hair, ha, ha!  5 years and almost 1,000 “love birds” later, we would not change anything for the whole world.

I would like to personally thank each and every single cople  Hector and I shared their dreams with.  It is ALWAYS our pleasure.  You are ALL unique; I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER seen any two couples alike!  I love the diversity from working with couples of all ages and backgrounds and we are honored that you have chosen us above all others to share your special day.

Best wishes to everyone and may this new year be filled with wonderful new experiences to you all!

Keeping small children “busy” during the ceremony!

 pails2

The best way to keep small children “busy” and hopefully from interrupting your beach ceremony is with toys.  It is unrealistic to have a gathering on the beach and expect children to behave like adults; children want to play when they see sand! I always recommend my brides to include this suggestion  on their wedding invitations; “bring beach toys for the little ones”.

My favorite site for inexpensive wedding “stuff” (Oriental Trading.com) sells small beach pails by the dozen and I thought – what a good idea; these would make a perfect favor for any beach wedding AND will also work as a “nanny”  during the ceremony :-)

Maybe it can even be created a “play area” to the side just for kids; click here to check it out. While you are there, don’t forget to check out their fans and parasols ideal for your beach wedding :-)

Beach Hair Styles

Hairstyle from Brides.com

Hairstyle from Brides.com

Most of the weddings we do are on the beach.  Countless time we see brides with the wrong type of hair style and with veils.  My personal favorite is when they pull their hair to the sides, off their faces and use a simple and beautiful flower or hair piece.

Today I came across this article from Brides.com where I found beautiful hair styles perfect for beach.  Click here to view more hairstyles.   Also, hair bands are very popular this year.  They can also be used by brides with short hair not only for a great style and to keep thair hair from blowing in front of their faces.

Ladies , you’ll look so much better than with a veil; veil do NOT work for outdoor weddings. They fly all over the place, depending on the wind direction, it may cover up your face from your guests view!

Finally, your hair might look gorgeous when is down but it will NOT work on the beach either; it would be your photographer’s nightmare and nothing he/she can do about hair blowing into your face.  Therefore, if you are shooting for a magazine look on your beach photos, make sure you have the aproppriate hair style and forget that outdated veil!
